The next fundraising occasion for Conscious Family Festival 2016 takes place on Sunday, October 2, 2016 from 3-5pm. World-class shakuhachi (Japanese bamboo flute) master Masayuki Koga, along with members of his Japanese Music Institute Ensemble, will perform a holiday concert at the Tibetan Gallery in The Barlow in Sebastopol. Koga's incredibly evocative music (along with light asian-inspired cuisine, including fine teas and matcha tea cocktails donated by Many Rivers Books & Tea) will offer fans of traditional Japanese music a treat, while offering holiday shoppers a balm of welcome respite from frenetic gift searches. Donations will benefit both the Conscious Family Festival, sponsored by nonprofit church corporation Tayu Meditation Center, as well as the Tibetan Gallery, a 501(c)(3) charity. Awakening as a family together...

The 3rd annual Conscious Family Festival is a FREE community event taking place on Saturday, October 8th, 2016 from 10 to 5 pm, at the Finley Community Center in Santa Rosa, California. The Festival will showcase a wide range of spiritual practices, tools, and wisdom from many traditions that can support parents, caregivers and children in creating consistently loving, nurturing, and non-violent environments for child-raising. The Festival's purpose is to vastly expand the availability of these resources to new audiences that may never have suspected that such resources exist.
The new program for the 2016 Conscious Family Festival is still being developed. Once completed, we will post this year's speakers, presentations, and schedule.

The Conscious Family Festival: Is a festival
of community and family... It is at its root people...

  • People seeking to give their love to children, for they create the future.
  • People of all ages, colors and walks of life, who feel called to conscious relationship with children.
  • People volunteering their time, energy and money to create a venue where the wisdom of spiritual practice is offered in service of the creation of loving, nurturing contexts for children.
  • People committed to embody physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual non-violence towards children.
  • People seeking new ways to support the quest of every child to realize the full breadth of their potential contribution to humanity and Life.

The responsibility of being with children, either in an official capacity as a teacher or parent, or simply as a friend or companion, is literally a responsibility for the future of humankind.  What we model for children, how we treat them, how we parent them, is more than important—it is absolutely vital to their mental, emotional and physical health and well-being and to that of the earth itself…Conscious parenting, then, is not only about the welfare of an individual, but more about the present and future well-being of society as a whole.
